Maybe your one of those types that swig their drinks at the local dive and offer unsolicited high fives to everyone you see to top that off everything is “Awesome” (again a overused word today) to you. So before you go to happy hour and see the same dam people you always see, run to a liquor or a grocery store and stock up. Liquor can be used to barter if the SHTF for other items you may need.

After what happened in Japan it might be a good idea to unplug your ipod from your head, put your iphone down and have things squared away at home in the event of an emergency. I’m sorry but the DJ won’t be able to save your  life if the shtf. Potassium Iodide protects the thyroid from radiation, some tablets work up to 14 hours (Enough time to get out of dodge). This is a prep I recommend for us Urban Preppers.

That cool refreshing drink, probably the most important prep you can have. A healthy body needs about 2.5 quarts of water a day!, So stock up at least …at least 3 weeks worth.  The human body can go weeks without food but water about 3 days. So get enough water to make Shamu jealous…(and maybe even your mother in law jealous..just kidding…not really).

More affluent and growing population will compete for ever scarcer resources and could make for an “unrecognizable” world by 2050, researchers warned.

To feed all those mouths, “we will need to produce as much food in the next 40 years as we have in the last 8,000,” said Jason Clay of the World Wildlife Fund to the AFP news agency. “By 2050 we will not have a planet left that is recognizable” if current trends continue, Clay added.

I know, I know we can’t dare say this to Americans, hell we get paid to have kids. Unfortunately it’s the truth, think about it, when you get on the roads you see more people then you used to, when your waiting in line on a sunday to shop for groceries  you see more people in line. All these people need resources, by taking responsablity for our lives we can prevent further suffering. There so many children in foster homes that need families. I know this subject is not a easy pill to swallow, India and China are repeat offenders of overpopulation. However if we don’t do something about it will be the end us.

The Japanese are a well rounded group of individuals. Leaders in technology, medicine and their cuisine is great. They don’t breed a large amount of criminals and they emphasize education and family values. It’s safe to say they have great building blocks that keep them civil in a SHTF situation. They have not had any incidents of looting or killing. Unlike Americans who at the first opportunity to loot and and kill (like the police during hurricane katrina) they take it. What can we learn?… don’t become a !$%&# hell spawn who didn’t get the toy they wanted at Wal-Mart and raise hell. Have self control and respect. It can’t be ”F the world always!” so stock up on what ever medications Dr. Phil prescribed to you.

Millions of Japanese were without drinking water or electricity Sunday, surviving on instant noodles and rice balls, two days after a powerful earthquake and tsunami hammered the northeastern coast, killing at least 1,000 people. This should be a reminder to be prepared in a SHTF situation. remember the Three rule ” A human can go 3 days without water, three weeks without food, 3 months without shelter in mild conditions.” ask yourself, Am I prepared?

A video I made for a top ramen alternative…”Pho Soup” and emergency nutrients for men. Food hedge is important  these days, at least a 3 week supply…I’m just saying don’t expect FEMA to come save your *&!

Here’s a great video covering surgical kits, wound care and much more !

A tsunami warning has been issued for the western coastal areas of the United States and Canada after a massive earthquake struck off the coast of Japan.

The West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center early Friday issued a tsunami warning for coastal areas along the United States and Canadian west coasts. The tsunami warning includes coastal areas of California and Oregon from Point Conception to the Oregon-Washington border. It also includes coastal areas of Alaska from Amchitka Pass to Attu.

Tsunami warnings were issued Friday for at least 20 countries and numerous Pacific islands, including Japan, coastal Russia and the Marcus Islands, the Northern Marianas, Wake Island, Taiwan and Guam.

A tsunami is sweeping across the Pacific Ocean after an 8.9-magnitude earthquake struck off the northeastern coast of Honshu Island, Japan. Japan’s NHK showed footage of cars, boats and buildings — some of them ablaze — being swept inland in Miyagi Prefecture.

More  and more signs people need to be prepared for an emergency.  Food, shelter and water a even a change of clothes is not a bad idea to start off with. Having personal info stashed away on a flash drive comes in handy as well.
